I MAKE CONNECTIONS.

I MAKE CONNECTIONS.

I’ve spent more than thirty years working in design, brand strategy and creative direction. Along the way, I’ve learned that the most interesting problems rarely stay inside the boundaries of a discipline.

THE SPACE BETWEEN THINGS

A brand problem can be a business problem. A business problem can be a communication problem. A design problem can be a question of meaning.

And sometimes the answer is hiding somewhere you weren’t looking. That’s probably why I’ve never been particularly good at solving things in a straight line.

I’m curious about the space between things: strategy and intuition, words and images, business and culture, old ideas and new possibilities. I like putting things beside each other to see what happens. Sometimes the collision reveals the idea. Sometimes it reveals that the original question was wrong.

I’ve worked across brand strategy, identity, graphic design, advertising, environments and creative direction, and I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations including ATB Financial, EPCOR, ATCO, Teck Resources, Shell and Alberta Forest Products Association.

But I don’t really think of myself as a specialist in any one of those things. I’m a multidisciplinary creative thinker.

HOW I THINK

Design is one of the ways I think. So are writing, music, teaching, collecting, looking, listening and asking questions that may not have obvious answers.

Experience has given me something I value more than expertise alone: pattern recognition. You begin to notice when something isn’t quite right. When the obvious answer is too obvious. When a problem is actually somewhere else. When an old idea has become useful again. When a seemingly unrelated thing suddenly makes the whole picture clearer.

My father once called me a “wide-awake dreamer.” I think he was onto something.

Being wide awake means paying attention. Being a dreamer means remaining open to what you might find. The work happens somewhere between the two.

WHAT I BRING

A perspective built through long attention.

01 / PERSPECTIVE — Thirty years of seeing organizations, brands, people and creative problems from different angles.

02 / CURIOSITY — A willingness to follow the interesting thread, even when it doesn’t look immediately useful.

03 / DISCERNMENT — In a world of endless possibilities, deciding what not to do is often the most important decision.

04 / CRAFT — The ability to turn an idea into something clear, compelling and tangible.

05 / CONNECTION — Building bridges between people, ideas, disciplines and possibilities.

06 / JUDGMENT — Knowing when something is working—and when to keep looking.

LOOKING FORWARD

I’m less interested in proving I can do the work. I’m more interested in what thirty years of doing it has taught me to see—and in helping other people see it too.

A SMALL NOTE ON CREDENTIALS

I’ve been fortunate to have my work recognized nationally and internationally, and in 2026 I was honoured with an Ad Club Edmonton Fellowship. I’m grateful for all of it. But credentials tell you where someone has been. I’m more interested in where we might go next.

I work with a trusted network of strategists, designers, writers, developers, photographers, filmmakers, architects and other specialists, assembling the right combination for the challenge at hand.

Sometimes the work is small and direct. Sometimes it requires a broader team. Either way, the creative leadership stays close to the problem.

HOW I WORK

Independent, but never in isolation.

I lead with a clear point of view and stay close to the work. When a challenge needs additional range, I bring the right collaborators into the room—people chosen for what the work asks of them, not for a fixed roster.
